January 2018
For our first meeting of 2018 we welcomed John & Pauline Ghest as our speakers. John gave us an insight into the Seaman's Mission and how we can help to keep them warm in the cold winter months by donating knitted items such as gloves & hats. Also clean trousers, jumpers and jackets (such as we'd give to Jumble sales) are much appreciated.
Pauline gave us an insight to the Boston Women's Refuge. Some women and children leave their homes with only the clothes they are wearing and are often in need of such things as toiletries and other essentials. We, as Firskney WI, have decided to help by donating items to the Refuge.

John Teanby came to visit us again for a second time with a talk and demonstration of the art of pottery. It was a very entertaining way to spend the evening and we had the chance to buy some of his pieces after the main demonstration was over.
May 2018
May was the month of our Resolution Meeting where we all discuss suggestions for Resolutions and we decide what to put forward. As we were all together we decided to have a group photo to mark the occasion.
And after the hard work of deciding what to support and saying "CHEESE !!" several times, we all relaxed with a Faith Supper to round the evening off.

October 2018
In October we started off with a presentation to Margaret who has recently retired from being our president and shortly to be leaving the village (housing chains permitting !) Pauline, in her first meeting as our new president, made the presentation and here you can see Margaret with another Radley bag for her collection ! Back to our normal business, our guest speaker this month was Sharon Kirk in her roles of both author and Chartered Surveyor. Sharon kept us amused telling us about the different situations she can often find herself when carrying out her property surveys. She has written two children's books about a vintage car called Bitsa and has published one adult novel titled lot 22. |
November 2018
Our Speaker was Chris Blevins from the Askefield project in Friskney. We heard how Chris and his family work hard to help and support clients get their lives back on track after traumatic events may have affected their lives. We also learned that they now have been granted some financial help from the NHS. For full information on our 100th Birthday Tea Party please click on Our News in the main heading. In other news we'd like to welcome our new member Sandra who came along and joined on the night. |
