The whole country took part in the Queen's Platinum Jubilee and here in Friskney the whole village joined in the celebrations.
Friskney Beacon Lighting The start of the Jubilee celebrations was the lighting of our village beacon. All around the country beacons were being lit in villages and Friskney was no exception. A Bingo session was held in the village hall, organised by the Village Hall committee and followed by lighting the beacon at around 9:30 pm. Lots of village residents turned out to see the beacon lit on a lovely dry evening with clear skies and a party atmosphere. |

Pauline’s Barbecue Several of our ladies came along to our Jubilee barbecue which was held in Pauline and Graham’s lovely garden. It was originally planned for the Sunday but because of the bad weather forecast it was changed to the Saturday instead. Graham served the delicious Burgers, Sausages and Bacon baps while Pauline had been busy baking quiche and fruit flans. We also had more cakes donated by members. Maxine was in charge of the Tombola. Sally and Kirsty won the bottle of champagne after winning the Royal Quiz. A big "Thank You" to Pauline, Graham and Maxine for hosting the day. |
Friskney Show After a 2 year break because of Covid the show was back and our WI Ladies were on hand to help with any enquiries about becoming a member. The weather was great and the show was packed, more popular than ever. Our stall kept busy and by 12.00 everything had been sold and even some of the crocheted display flowers had been sold. Well done to all the volunteers who helped on the day. |
