25th February 2017 : Pancake Racers !
2017 started with our first fund raising event for our centenary celebration fund and everyone pitched in to help with a village pancake race. Originally planned as an outdoors event our weather took the decision to hold it inside the village hall so there was a last minute track reorganisation to get ready before the pancakes started flying.

The kitchen was busy turning out the very popular "bacon butties" and it was probably one of our noisier events.
The racing brought smiles all round with medals and prizes for the winners. We even persuaded a few parents to grab a frying pan for the "big kids race" ! Thanks to all who came along, Tony Jarvis for taking photographs of the action and all the others who came to help on the day, not forgetting those that put on their trainers for the racing ! |

21st October 2017 : WI Jumble Sale
Our last fund raising event of the year was our October Jumble sale and this time we decided to make it a party atmosphere with a Halloween theme. The hall was decorated with bunting (thanks Pauline) and everyone turned out in suitable costumes, we even had prizes for the winners !
The village schoolchildren entered into the spirit with our Pumpkin competition with some excellent examples of just what you can do with a pumpkin !
Once again, thanks to all those who came along to buy, those who helped on the day and of course to our resident photographer, Tony Jarvis, for taking shots of the action.

Friskney Village Craft Fair
And to round off 2017 several of our members decided to take a stall at the Village craft fair at the end of the year. This proved to be another surprise because whilst we were setting up Radio Lincolnshire decided to pay a visit !
Radio Lincolnshire have a competition called "Pirate Gold" which entails a presenter and crew touring the county looking for clues at various local events and on this occasion one of these clues was "hidden" on our village hall notice board. It certainly made for an interesting time, setting up the stall and trying to solve the clues !
We had a very packed stall, ranging from the cakes produced by our bakers to craft items and of course those famous LED bottle lamps. Despite selling regularly like hot cakes, there's always a good stock available and they are getting more creative as time goes by.
