FRISKNEY WI MAY 2016 REPORT
The speaker for this month was Denise Taylor who gave us a talk on "Medical Detection with Dogs".
Denise explained the role of the Medical Detection Dogs and how they are helping detect the early signs of cancer by being able to smell peoples breath. The dogs are also being able to detect early problems with other forms of disease including when someone is having an early onset "hypo" as in Diabetes Type "1". In this case they are trained to get the sufferers emergency kit.
There are lots of other conditions that the dogs are being trained for.
The dogs themselves are fostered by families and taken to work each day. They do a few hours work with breaks in between testing so much so that there are dedicated rest areas for each dog.

FRISKNEY W.I. SEPTEMBER 2016 REPORT
The speaker for this month was be Denise Harrison giving a talk on “Lincolnshire Myths & Legends”. Denise talked about Bogarts, Bogles, the Werewolf of Dogdyke and the Three Grey Ladies. Plus other Myths and Legends of Lincolnshire'.
Bogles are apparently a form of Poltergeist and can be nasty pieces of work. They apparently live in swampy places and are in charge of the Green Mist that bring the Spring. The Werewolf of Dogdyke is a human shape shifter.
The Three Gray Ladies:
One is haunts Gainsborough Old Hall and has been spotted at the tower of the east wing.
The Gray Lady of Gunby fell in love with a postilian and her father had him thrown in the lake she was so distraught at this that she also was thrown in the lake and now haunts the Ghost Walk which apparently always feels cold.
The Gray Lady of Boston can be seen on an Autumn evening at midnight she is a figure of a woman holding a child, apparently she falls from the top of the stump. There are three ideas of who she is but no one is totally sure.
These are just a few of the Myths and Legends surrounding Lincolnshire. Denise gave a very enjoyable talk and was accompanied by her husband David who was the guardian of the map.
